It can be difficult to get everything done in the morning before work, but there are simply some things worth taking the time to be late for — Tyler Lobdell was remined of this thanks to his son. He was already in his truck and pulling out of his driveway when his kid came running outside. An outdoor security camera caught the moment, and Tyler shared in on TikTok. In the video, we can see his kid run outside in hopes of getting his attention, screaming out “Dad!”
It took Tyler a moment to realize what was happening but, once he did, he was quick to stop and hopped out of the car. It may have seemed like something was wrong, but his sweet kiddo’s urgency stemmed from the most wholesome reason: He wanted a hug, and Dad was more than happy to provide him with one.
“The ‘I’ve gotta go to work’ hugs always hit a little different,” Tyler wrote on TikTok.
Thousands of comments on the video are full of folks reiterating what Tyler believes: You should never miss out on an opportunity to hug your little one.
“‘Sorry I was late, my kid needed a hug’ will ALWAYS be an ok reason to be late,” one person wrote.
