During football season, team loyalty means everything. For some of us, that means standing by a team that hasn’t made a Super Bowl appearance in quite some time. For others, it might mean rooting for the men with the most rings on their fingers. Others could be swayed by a team whose official colors complement their complexion. So, if the jersey fits, they’ll wear it.
Football can also be divisive. When family members are rooting for opposing teams, it can lead to a lot of trouble in the living room on Sundays. We’ll never know how Donna Kelce was able to sit and watch the Super Bowl while her son Travis played for the Kansas City Chiefs against Jason on the Philadelphia Eagles. Thankfully, she’s the first mom in history to face that dilemma. But that doesn’t mean other families aren’t duking it out on any given Sunday for bragging rights.
Makeup artist and social media influence Gabrielle Kelley wanted to see what her husband, Jay, a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan, would do if someone else in the house supported another team. She posted a video on Instagram of their youngest daughter, Nova, going to see her dad with a pink Dallas Cowboys jersey on. Jay was not thrilled with their antics and Nova’s chant, “Go Cowboys.”
Jay repeatedly told Nova, “Go Falcons,” while telling her to take her jersey outside and stomp on it. Her dad didn’t sway her even after throwing playful insults at their nearly 3-year-old daughter. Nova kept the Cowboy’s jersey on, and Jay walked away defeated.
Gabrielle captioned her video, “Nova definitely got the last word!” Her fans agreed.
This fan loved it, “The way she just kept going!! Princess was getting the last word in now.”
“When my daughter met my son-in-law I was THRILLED that he was a fan of the same football team I could not do the house divided,” a relieved football fan wrote.
Another person stated the obvious. “He’s definitely met his match.”
