Kelly Clarkson has included a new performer on her current album, River Rose Blackstock, who is her own daughter.
Clarkson’s latest album, «Chemistry,» was released on Friday. The deluxe edition adds the song «You Don’t Make Me Cry,» which features River Rose.
A vocal run by River, age 9, over some pop piano chords opens the song. During her daughter’s appearance, Clarkson says, «Sing.»
River’s voice occurs infrequently throughout the song, mirroring her mother’s vocalization of the word «cry» throughout the chorus. Finally, she’s the one who ends it with an auto-tuned «the end.» While River’s vocal skills aren’t nearly on par with Clarkson’s, she may follow in her mother’s footsteps.
Clarkson and ex-husband Brandon Blackstone share River and their son, Remington Alexander, 7. This isn’t the first time one of her children has performed alongside her; in August, both of her children joined her onstage during her Las Vegas engagement. During the concert, Remington danced to Clarkson’s song «Whole Lotta Woman,» while River sang Clarkson’s «Heartbeat Song» with her mother, according to NBC.
Clarkson stated before her performance with River that her daughter has liked «Heartbeat Song» since she was a baby and had selected the song to sing with her mother.
