Baby Cries When Mom Leaves To Run Errands. But Then Dad Has An Idea—He Gently Holds Up Her Shirt.

A new baby’s bond with his parents is extremely strong. As a tiny baby with only a few weeks on this earth, their world is extremely tiny. It most likely consists of their home, crib, and of course their parents’ comforting arms. They have met very few people and parents are the ones who spend their time feeding, changing, and cuddling the new baby.

The sounds or their parents’ voices, the feel of their hands, and even the smell of their skin offer familiar comfort in a potentially frightening new world. When things change in their tiny universe, sometimes it is only the presence of a parent and their familiarity that can comfort a baby.

Because of this early attachment and their child’s dependence on them, new parents find it difficult to leave their new baby, even for a short period of time. This time in their baby’s life, when they are so tiny and so completely dependent, can go by very quickly and though it can be exhausting and stressful at times, parents often want to soak up as much of the experience as possible. Before they know it, their once tiny infant will be a walking, talking toddler and those early days will be just a memory.

The baby boy in this video is still very much dependent on his mother’s comfort, love, and presence. So much so that when she steps out for a few minutes to run a few errands, he can’t stop crying. Fortunately, dad knows just what to do to comfort his crying son.

He simply places one of his wife’s dirty shirts next to the baby and he is almost immediately comforted. Where he was inconsolable moments before, he is now happy and smiling. All because he can smell and feel his mother’s presence.
