Whoever decided that a dog is man’s best friend clearly never met Love Bird. This adorable chicken has so much love for his human pal and isn’t afraid to show it.
The Brumley family in Springville Calif. posted an online video of their 6-year-old boy Mason and his chicken, who he has raised since she was a little chick. Mason and Love Bird are best friends. It’s so beautiful to see unlikely friendships between humans and animals — like Rupert the horse, who has become a hit at retirement homes.
Mason met the chick in 2011 when she was hatched as part of a project in Mason’s nursery school class, and the pair has been inseparable ever since. She even greets him with a hug when he comes home from school. But after he got a haircut, the family wondered how the chicken would respond.
Pulling out their camera phone, they decided to capture the moment and see what happened. The video, appropriately titled, “Is it really you?” features Mason putting out his arms looking for a hug from his favorite pal.
Love Bird does a little inspection. Does Mason pass the test? We won’t ruin it for you, but just watch the video.
