My neighbor had an amazing daughter named Vera. She was so obedient and diligent, excelling in school. Then came unexpected news – it turned out that our Vera was pregnant. She had always been a slender girl, so no one noticed her belly rounding. Vera graduated from school with honors and gave birth to a baby boy in late August. She even managed to secure a scholarship at the university. For Vera’s mother, it was quite a surprise; no matter how hard she tried to find out the name of the baby’s father, Vera remained silent.
Every month they received financial support for the child’s needs. Vera’s mother took time off work to take care of her grandchild, and Vera began her studies. From her second year at the university, she also found a part-time job to improve the family’s financial situation. When Vera finished her education and started working full-time, she brought her fiancé to meet her mother. When Vera’s mother looked at him, she realized that he was the father of her grandchild. He had the same blue eyes and light hair as the child.
Then Vera confessed that they were in love with each other, but her fiancé was entering the military academy. Having a child could have posed an obstacle. But now, both of them had their diplomas, and they had already applied to the registry office. They decided not to have a traditional wedding and instead spent the money on a trip abroad.
As a big thank you to Vera’s mother for dedicating these years to her grandchild, the newlyweds took her on a journey through Europe. My neighbor had never been abroad before, and she had so many interesting stories to share when she returned.
Now, Vera, her husband, and their child live together as a family. Her husband is in the military, and Vera has already enrolled her son in first grade.
